The Internet Archive is a non-profit organization with the purpose of archiving digital information. As they describe in their about page they are working to ensure that our digital cultural artifacts will not be lost over time, and helping to improve access to literature and other non-digital information by working to digitize it.

They are the maintainers of the Way Back Machine which spiders and archives the contents of the web. According to their FAQ it now contains "almost 2 petabytes of data and is currently growing at a rate of 20 terabytes per month". They have also begun archiving video, and books They have also started a project to catalog all the books which have been published called Open Library.
